EMF

An EMF detector (Electromagnetic Field detector) is a device used to detect and measure electromagnetic fields produced by electrical wiring, appliances, electronic equipment, radio signals, and other sources of electromagnetic energy.

EMF detectors are commonly used for electrical safety inspections, locating live wires, troubleshooting electrical systems, and measuring electromagnetic emissions from equipment.

Most EMF detectors can measure one or more of the following:

• Electric fields generated by voltage.
• Magnetic fields generated by electrical current.
• Radio frequency (RF) fields from Wi-Fi, mobile phones, radios, and similar devices.

In homes and workplaces, an EMF detector may respond to:

• Electrical wiring in walls.
• Fuse boxes and consumer units.
• Computers and televisions.
• Mobile phones.
• Wi-Fi routers.
• Household appliances.

EMF detectors are also popular in paranormal investigations. Devices such as the K-II meter are often used by ghost hunters because they indicate changes in electromagnetic fields. However, the device itself can only detect electromagnetic energy and cannot identify the source of the field.

In simple terms, an EMF detector is a measuring instrument that detects invisible electromagnetic energy in the surrounding environment, much like a thermometer measures temperature.
