EVP

EVP stands for Electronic Voice Phenomena. It is a term used in paranormal investigations to describe voices, words, or sounds that are believed by some people to be captured on audio recordings but were not heard at the time the recording was made.

Investigators typically use digital voice recorders, smartphones, or specialised audio equipment to record ambient sound. During playback, they listen for unexplained voices or noises that may appear to respond to questions or communicate messages.

Common methods of EVP investigation include asking questions in a quiet environment, leaving pauses for possible responses, and later reviewing the recording for unusual sounds. Some investigators classify EVPs into different categories depending on how clearly the voice can be heard.

Many reported EVPs consist of faint words, whispers, knocks, or short phrases. However, there is no scientific evidence that EVPs are communications from spirits. Most recorded sounds can often be explained by background noise, radio interference, audio compression, environmental sounds, or a psychological effect known as pareidolia, where the brain interprets random sounds as meaningful speech.

Despite the lack of scientific proof, EVP recording remains one of the most popular techniques used in paranormal investigations and ghost-hunting activities around the world.
